HORSEBACK SAFARIS
Our herd of over 90 horses live a blissful life on our private game reserve amongst the wildlife. As the horses are seen as part of normal daily life by the other animals, our riding guests can get closer to the game than probably anywhere else in Africa. There is no such thing a typical riding day during an Ant’s horseback safari.

WALKING SAFARIS
For those who might like more exercise, our guides can lead you through the bushveld on foot. These guided walking safaris are informative and interactive, enabling guests to gain a more intimate knowledge of the flora and fauna resident on the reserve.
Learn to recognise tracks, find out the tell tale signs of male vs female in certain species, and even get up close with white rhino. Whether you choose to have a gentle stroll or a more energetic hike over the plains clambering up steep kloofs, a walking safari allows you to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the wilderness.
DAY OR NIGHT
GAME DRIVES
Explore the reserve with your own guide in an open 4×4 game viewer, covering far more ground across the reserve and seeing up close over 40 species of animal and 300 species of resident and migrant birds. From giraffe to white rhino, sable and roan antelope, buffalo and zebra – there is a new sighting around every corner. Whether in the morning after a delicious homemade breakfast or in the afternoon ending with sundowners from spectacular viewpoints within the bush, a game drive is the unmissable amongst classic safari experiences.
Take a magical night game drive to search for elusive nocturnal animals, such as the rare brown hyena, aardvark, bushbaby and porcupine. If you are incredibly lucky you may have an exceptional sighting of a leopard. Or combine a game drive with a walking safari to enhance that sense of adventure and make photography even more exciting.

FAMILY SAFARIS
Give your children a life-changing experience on safari in South Africa. With a selection of wonderful ponies suitable to both the novice and experienced child rider, they can have the chance to head out on horseback. Beginners can be led by a competent guide and riding lessons are also available. Children under 5 can be led on a pony in and around the lodge area.
On guided bush walks they can learn about tracks, investigate bugs and experience the scale of the bush veld. Children are welcome on game drives and for when they are not out exploring, there is archery, fishing and swimming to occupy their free time. Special food and meal times can be arranged or alternatively families can dine together.
Children 11 and under must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult on activities.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
For those wanting a bit of exercise, mountain bike through the incredibly diverse terrain, cycling alongside herds of game. With routes from 5km to 20km, we offer extreme technical cycling as well as gentle meanders.
CAST A LINE
During the summer months, we can take you and your family to fish in one of the many dams within the private reserve. Cast for bream and bass in quiet solitude and spend some quality time in this activity that children love.
RUN THE WILDERNESS
Are you an avid runner? Skip the boring indoor treadmill and keep in shape exploring the the private wilderness. We will happily take you out on a bush run with routes, length and speed according to your fitness and energy levels.
DAY TRIPS
Visit a local Big Five game reserve to see lion and elephant, take a tour of Bushman paintings and Iron Age sites, head to town to shop for a variety of African arts and crafts, and on Sundays visit the 1914 historical thatched church to attend a service.
NIGHT SKY SAFARI
See the African night as never before. Under the tutelage of an expert astronomer using advanced telescopes and cameras, you will be introduced to the wonders of the universe. We’ll take you far far away to understand the myths and extraordinary science of the sky.
WINE TASTING
South Africa boasts many fantastic wine estates and styles with a history dating back to 1659. Our wine tastings have become extremely popular and can easily be incorporated as a special extra into your tailor-made day.
UNWIND & RECHARGE
After all that outdoor activity you'll want to cool off and lounge by the pool or enjoy a revitalizing massage. We offer half or full body massages by skilled therapists that can be provided in the comfort of your room or on a private verandah.
