Who we are
Bulge River is situated on the central plateau of the Waterberg Mountains within the Limpopo Province of South Africa. There are multiple suburbs within a half hours drive which have large and extremely impoverished communities. WHAT THEY CURRENTLY DO: We have established a non-profit organization here in South Africa called “The Fold, SA Children’s Home”. We have purchased a 37 hectare property 40km outside of Vaalwater. We want to have up to 8 households on the property, with indigenous house parents, and 6-8 children in each home. We are looking for skilled volunteers to assist us.
Where we are
A husband and wife team from the United States who have started a children’s home for orphans in the Waterberg district. We have recently been joined by another couple from the US. It is a home based on solid moral values. We are supported by a Ministry called Prince Ministry in South Africa, which is a non-profit organization in the United States. We are also registered as a non-profit in South Africa.
What We Do
The Fold exists to provide refuge to children in need, by investing love. The plight of the young and defenseless has always been close to our heart. Our primary vision is to assist children, who have been ravaged by the loss of family, poverty, disease and abuse.
We are located on a farm outside of Vaalwater. We have family style living with indigenous parents and will have up to 8 children in each home. Eight houses are planned, the first two houses have been in operation and we hope to have a third opening soon.
The children will be taught English, but will also speak an African language. They will all be taught basic skills such as cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening, taking care of animals.
School will be up to grade 12, with the possibility of university based on each child’s ability, or vocational training. We will help these children to identify and pursue their dreams.
We want to offer Sports/agriculture/animal husbandry/computer skills, etc. Our goal is to invest in the lives of these children for the long term benefit of themselves, their village and South Africa and our dream is to open a private school on the property within the next few years The aim is to create a loving and secure environment filled with an atmosphere of contagious joy and promoting a good moral character.
We rely totally on donations from the general public, businesses and the commercial sector. Currently it is costing us R25 000 per month to run the first household and entire farm and it will be an estimated cost of around R15 000 per month to support each additional household
Funding for furniture, blankets, gently used clothes, food items and kitchen utensils. School supplies and toiletries.
